Skip Hop Grand Central Diaper Bag, Cinnamon Review

I have had 4 Skip Hop bags (Duo, Studio, Versa & Grand Central) and I like this one the best so far. I have been on the quest for the "perfect" diaper bag and this one comes closest to being the best and at a good price. I've looked at JuJuBe (don't like their fabrics), Petunia PB (too expensive), JJ Cole (bottle pockets too small) and didn't like most of them for one reason or another.
I am an over packer, ready for anything and I am also out of the house everyday for at least a few hours with the baby. My daughter is 9 months old and starting to eat snacks but still is drinking from bottles. She also plays with bigger toys and books. So I wanted a bag that was big to carry lots of gear and didn't look like a diaper bag.

PROS:
- Good overall size, deep main pocket with a zipper closure. 2 side pockets with snap closures and the snaps seem pretty solid. There are enough small-sized compartments to hold random stuff.
- Shoulder straps are longer than the Studio Tote and are easy to put onto my shoulder. The straps are sewn in well and look very secure.
- The 2 bottle pockets are a great size! I can easily put 2 (!!) Avent 9 oz bottles on each side, plus they are insulated. And the bottle pockets don't eat too much into the main pocket of the bag. I can also fit my double handled sippy cup in the other and it fits fine.
- It stands up well on its own when on the ground. It also fits in my stroller basket (Uppababy), although a bit snug.
- When you unzip the main compartment, it opens up nicely and you can see into the bottom of the bag. One of my main complaints with the Versa was that the opening is so small, but this one is great! You don't have to dig too far to get what you want.
- Nice key fob in the side compartment. Great for keys, paci, hand sanitizer or the mini bag dispensers.
- It is not too heavy when it's empty so it won't weigh you down too much.
- Would be great for airplane travel or long day trips.

CONS:
- The main compartment zipper seems cheap. They should have used a heavy duty zipper, preferably one with 2 slides on it. This one looks and feels cheap.
- The side pocket for the change pad has no closure. It would be nice to see a magnet or small velcro there to keep the pocket closed.
- The colour selection is dull. I hate brown, so I had to settle for black with brown accents.
- No cross-body strap. The Bento has both kinds of straps, so it would have liked to have the same kind of flexibility.

Overall, I am really happy with this bag. I did not get it on Amazon, but they do have the best price I have seen so far. I was considering the Bento, the JJ Cole Mode, the Duo Double or this one, and I'm glad I chose the Grand Central. It is big, but not so big that you can't find anything when you need it. I didn't give 5 stars because I think they cheaped out on some finishes and I think it is a little pricey.

This is the same costume available through Chasing Fireflies / Wishcraft for around $70. The quality is excellent, so much better than your typical kids costume. But my son is 2 and wears 2T clothing. He is swimming in the size 18Month/2T, the feet are dragging and he trips on them. My 4 year old who is super tall for her age and wears size 5T tried it on and it was only about 4-5 inches too short for her. I sent it back and ordered the smallest size, the 12-18 month size. Fingers crossed it works!

Harry Potter McGonagall's Hat with Feather Review

While I am pleased with this hat overall, I was disappointed to find the green and black checkered band is not checkered at all, but solid, bright green. It wasn't until after I purchased this hat that I realized there is a slightly more expensive hat that has a checkered band, but that is apparently still rather bright. Also, in this hat the feather is sticking straight up the tall part of the hat, instead of to the side. The slightly more expensive hat has removable feathers, so maybe you can adjust their direction.

Overall, it's a good hat, but it's not screen-accurate, nor is the picture on amazon accurate.

D.E.P.T. Women's Classic Pea Coat, Black, Large Review

I ordered the jacket based on the good reviews. I have a fashionable figure, about 5'7" and wear clothes well. But I have never tried on a jacket that was as ill-fitting as this one. It didn't resemble the photo at all.

The quality of construction was great (except for the strong chemical smell of the fabric), but the fit was very strange. Very short-waisted and tight above the waist, a silly looking peplum in the hip - and those sleeves! (as someone mentioned) completely ridiculous in length. The cuffs cannot be altered because of the trim, so the sleeves would have to be removed entirely from the jacket and made shorter from the shoulder.

But this is the worst issue with the jacket. The sleeves are so tight in the underarm and shoulder area, that I could not raise my arms above the waist.

I can only assume that those reviewers who loved the jacket must be very petite - although I can't imagine what they did about those sleeves designed for a woman 6'5" tall!
