BGSD Women's Reversible Faux Mink Fur Hooded Long Coat - Black/Dark Chocolate XL Review

When this coat arrived, one of my daughters asked, "Is that a sleeping bag?" No doubt about it; this is a serious winter coat--big, heavy, and warm. It does almost feel like a sleeping bag, but it's much more stylish. The coat is not completely shapeless--it does taper in around the waist, but there are no drawstrings to make it smaller. It widens at the bottom and is easy to walk in. I'm 5' 8" tall and about 200 lbs (usually wear a woman's size 16--18), so ordered the extra large size. I have plenty of room to wear a heavy sweater underneath it, should I so desire, and the coat falls to about mid-calf on me (a little longer than shown on the model). The weather here in Wisconsin has been below zero and windy the last few days, and this coat has kept me toasty warm through bus commutes, walks, and snow shoveling. It's HEAVY, but it does what a winter coat is supposed to do: keep me warm and protected from the elements. The reversibility makes it ideal for both practical and formal/dressy uses. According to a label found in the pocket, the coat is also machine washable (100% polyester)--I haven't tested it, but that's another bonus. A great deal on a real winter coat that's both attractive and useful.

I could not be happier with my purchase. These glasses are very thin, but feel very durable. They look great, feel great on my face, and the polarized lenses repel glare without causing issues with viewing cellphones, computers, tablets, etc. while wearing them. The weight makes them comfortable to wear for extended amounts of time, and the coverage doesn't allow for any sunlight to slip by and cause glare above or below the glasses frame, which cannot be said for the pair of Oakley glasses that these are replacing. I have always loved the look of Ray Ban Wayfarers, and it is nice to finally have a pair that actually look good on my face. Since these are ultra thin, they hug my face and present a better fit to my facial features than the original, slightly thicker plastic frames. They are a pleasure to wear.

Columbia Men's Big Watertight Jacket, Intense Red/Charcoal, 2X Review

Ordered this jacket after a bit of research--our family is travelling to WDW in January, and I wanted a light raincoat instead of a poncho that would pack tightly. To me, raincoat has advantages over a poncho; i.e., better fit on sleeves, more durable, quicker to 'button' down (admittedly, my experience with ponchos has been cheap ones from a big box store).

Features that make this jacket a great fit for our needs (bought one for my wife too, in a different size of course):
--Breathable, but waterproof (as opposed to water resistant)
--no insulating liner (perforated nylon liner=airflow; waterproof material isn't in direct contact=no sweat), so great for rain in mild temps
--inner pocket that the entire jacket folds/packs into as a small bundle for easy transport (you can't 'lose' the pouch you pack your jacket into!)
--bottom 'hem' cinch cord for a snug fit if you don't want wind coming up from the bottom

When I received it the only worry I had was that it might have been counterfeit Ray ban lenses since it said made in china on the frames. Phistic Women's Hooded Down Coat with Removable Genuine Raccoon Fur Trim - Bl... Review

I REALLY wanted to love this coat. Unfortunately, it makes me look like a tent (but this may be the result of ordering it a size too big). So, here are my thoughts:

Pros:
-- the raccoon(?) fur around the hood is lovely! Very bushy and full, exactly what I was looking for. It keeps the wind and cold off of your face, as well as everything but the heaviest rain (just to note-- the fur is a light brownish color, with longer guard hairs of a darker, blackish color. This does not look like any raccoons that I am familiar with, but it is clearly REAL animal fur).

-- the pockets are lined with a soft material (something fuzzy) that keeps your hands very warm

-- the coat itself is very warm, and easily stands up to wind and freezing temperatures

-- the neck has a snap-across collar that protects your neck from wind, even without a scarf

-- although I never had it out in HEAVY rain, it was perfectly water-proof/resistant in moderate to light precipitation

Cons:
-- the jacket does not zip all the way down to the bottom of the coat, although there is a snap at the bottom hem. This means that there is a big gap that bulges open whenever you walk or sit or pretty much do anything in this coat. Either that, or you leave the bottom snap unsnapped, which leaves you with a coat that reaches only mid-thigh. At first, I did not think this was a big deal. I have now switched back to my old coat, since it zips all the way down to my knees without creating an artificial tummy roll via the snaps.

-- the coat has NO shape to it-- in particular, no contouring at the waist. I understand that puffy coats are not meant to be necessarily flattering, but this coat is ridiculous! Perhaps this is because I bought this jacket in a size Large. I am a size 10-12 and am fairly heavy on top, but the large is HUGE on me. I wish I could sell this coat, but I think I am actually going to save it for when I get pregnant.

-- the pockets do not zip. Although they are fairly deep, I am always afraid I will lose my keys! In addition, the pockets are just slightly too far to the side for me to find them comfortably and so I am always struggling to get my hands in.

Bottom line-- perhaps this coat would have worked for me in a size Medium, but I think the biggest design flaw is that it does not zip all the way down to the bottom-- this would have been in an issue in any size.
