Despite its shaggy appearence, this is a very technical fleece built for very specific circumstances. If your thinking it will be like most other fleeces you own, you'll be dissapointed.

Its high loft fleece is made to be very breathable. As such it dries extremely fast and is perfect for layering. However it wont stop any wind or really any water. It will provide great wartmth under a shell and feels amazing for lounging around after a hard day on the mountain.

Its cut for mountain climbing. This means a shorter torso for a harness, long arms and a very tight fit. I'm 6' and 160 pounds and the medium fits perfectly. The sleeves area little tight. It has two waste pockets that are internal and one external chest pocket. It balls relatively small, but is not as some other fleeces I've used. The waste doesnt sinch at all, but I guess as un wind resistant as it is, it wouldnt really need to. And would work well if you had a belt or harness on.

I got the otter brown. In some light it looks slighly greenish/gray. Not quite the espresso it looks in some of the pictures. Not bad, but not amazing. The texture is like some of those synthetic faux sheep fur blankets. Its a little less 'monkey fur' esque then the old version from a few years ago, thats kind a bummer.

All in all its an amazing fleece for layering and staying warm on the couch or running in on a cold, dry morning. Sometimes you can find the s and xl sizes on sale places, if so I highly recomend it. The standard price is a little high depending on your budget, but for me worth it. The other products like it are the Patogonia R3 for $30 more and the TAD shagmaster for $50 more.
